first lines on current projects

matociquala does this every once in a while, and I have posted my own list in the past, only to feel a bit underwhelmed by my own work once it was posted...

But! Today I was making a list, thinking about Tweeting my favorites of the first lines. Didn't get far on that, but I was pleased to look over this MegaList and see a lot of good first lines...and kind of intrigued by some stories that have been on the backburner forever, but really, really... just, are stories I want to write, confound it!

Anyway. Cut for the unsuspecting bystander...after a sample. ;)

Letters to My Nemesis:
First day of Metro High School, survived.

Archivalist:
The drizzle was elegant, catching light from the gas-lamps and going down like darkened silver.

Vigil Assistance:
Since only one of them could really move around the tiny apartment at once, Jackson got ready for work while her roommate Fox gave commentary from the top bunk.

These are all things that are not fully revised, but also ones I haven't given up hope on, or decided are just for my personal amusement.

Like the other shojo-trope-story that probably only rhinemouse will see. If I ever do, in fact, make a full story out of it.

The cut line falls on the line where things become novellas and then short stories, in case you were curious. The last two? I don't know what they'll be like. They feel like novel ideas, but...

now this guy has some mad backstory...

By golly, when this drama gives you an abrupt bullet to the head in the teaser, that's what they deliver in the episode. No faffing about when it comes to the violence in this.

Hilarious, though, is the otaku-crazed intent look on the crime-scene photographer's eyes--don't even know if he's going to get a line or not, but he's sure in character. Some kind of character.
