Yes! re: heroines thinking outside of their time periods. Women could still be strong and independent and awesome, but they were still products of their society. When I read books that insert blatant feminism into historical settings I kind of read them with the same mindset that I apply to the ren fest :P 'This has basically nothing to do with history but it is pretty entertaining!'
