Nikki & the B-Sides - prelude 2012

There are several things I never expected in life, facing me right now.
Like, that I’ve come to think Justin Bieber’s music is good.*
That I’m 26, and haven’t published a book yet.
That I’m a “fiber artist”, a waitress, an Oklahoma resident who practices yoga.
All this, though, is fairly mundane. It’s what I’ve built up in the past 7, 8 years to follow up the four years this blog is going to be
about. The single most unexpected, crazy thing that ever happened to me, and I’m excluding the time I was cross-questioned about being a possible kidnapping victim. **
Around this time of year, 13 years ago, I was part of a homeschool kids’ choir that I loved with the kind of teen passion that makes for
epic love story series’.
Like all love stories, it was doomed from the start.
Because my family was leaving California.

*Boyfriend is a good record, okay—Bieber always wanted to be
Usher, and now they’re letting him really sing some R&B. Which is my
Achilles Heel. It’s why I listen to K-Pop, too…
**Apparently, being 5 kids spanning the ages of 18 to 4 is
totally weird, and unlikely to be a biological unit? This was
Massachusetts. People only have 1.5 children there.

Small blessings.
And thank you! It's nice to have a craft that isn't as much of a long-haul learning curve as a novel...
