ETA: my name is on a magazine~! Hopefully my poem is in it, too...

I scorn mediocrity.

So my LiveJournal has been bothering me for some time. XD

I went back over my posts in the last few months, and realized I get more comments than I think, though from as few people as I was guessing...

newest art-crush ~ Lisa Falzon's work, Etsy/DeviantArt handle: meluseena

I did discover that pictures seem to bring in comments-- recently, though, even my yarn posts have gotten less.
I don't know. This isn't a complaint, by the way.
I am a fiend for attention, when it comes to writing, online, shows. But I also just want to have a blog that people want to read.

So seriously?
What kind of posts do you notice?

You'll note a new avatar, though I actually probably look more like this chick:

I'm writing a Snow White tale today, based off of the image at the top and this Red Riding Hood one. It's not so much the edge of horror to this lady's work as the outright prettiness without apology.

meluseena's Etsy includes prints, and pocketmirrors with her art on them. Do check it out.

The best thing about my Treasury making the Etsy frontpage is that it felt like making the seller's rockstars...

Dude, I am digging her artwork. I think I like White Queen Takes Black Pawn most, but they're all amazing.

Highfive for getting an etsy front page treasury!!

Yeshhhh, I will infect you ALL~!

And by that I mean, I'm glad you enjoy it, too, dear.

Man, that art is beautiful. WOW. I will have to go dig around some more.

I've been commenting less because . . . well, my brain is fried. But pictures are attention-getting.

Some people have the knack of writing stuff so people *want* to comment, though. It may not be a skill you can learn, but I'm going to try my hardest! *g*

It's not a commentary on my readers, at all.

The edge of creepy on these pictures is fascinating. The Goldilocks picture above is titled "This Carpet is Just Right"...

COMMENT

also YOUR NAME, I SAW IT

idk what kind of posts I notice. I tend to skim your posting snippets because I am never sure where/to what your snippets belong. (/fellow writer fail)

...No, I'm bad about it, too.

Though I don't have to know what it's about, if it's not REALLY GOOD or I don't have a connection with it.
To be honest, I only post snippets because I have the mad urge and don't stop myself.

Just stopped by to mention that I do often read your posts, but hardly ever comment on them only because LJ is overwhelming me these days. Too much to read and keep up with. It's stressing me out.

I do always admire the yarns but don't usually take the time to read the writing posts.

Mm-hmm. That makes sense. I don't post comments on everything, or even much.

What do you *like* to comment on, when you don't feel stressed out by it? I mean in a general way, not my journal.

I enjoy commenting most of people's book reviews, I guess. After that, I love hearing little bits of people's lives--funny stories, questions they ponder, venting, what brings them joy, etc.

Maybe it's the TwitterFacebook mentality, but if a post is super-long I usually skim it or give it a miss.

What about you? What kinds of posts do you like to read?

Date: 2010-03-04 09:08 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] idiosyncreant.livejournal.com
I like book reviews, especially on books I'm already interested in.

I like stories-from-the-day from people who tell them well, but I'm guessing I'm not very good at it myself.

And rants. XD
I can't really say what will encourage me to comment on an entry. I'm like this in real life too--If I don't feel like anything will be added to the conversation (or whatever) by me saying something, I just don't say anything.
I know what you mean...

It seems I came off kind of accusatory, which was not my intention! I just wanted to know what people would like to read on this journal.

You know, there was a girl on the bus today wearing exactly the same head-dress as the one in your icon. Bizzare? Yes! Awesome? Yes!

The pictures are lovely. And I want to second Checkers - I always read the posts, but I'm not checking LJ as frequently these days, or commenting as much, for the same reason - LJ's so busy now, and it's a lot to keep up with! I understand how you feel about comments, though - I am a comments-addict myself. :D
