Okay, this is my Deviant Art geek-out for the time being...
can I tell you how much I love thinking of something and saying to myself, "I can look at what other people did with that!"

...I won't tell you how many Inuyasha pictures I just collected, because it's silly. Pretty! But RIDICULOUS.

HANDS

You may not be aware of this particular issue, but someone's hands in their work or with the marks of work on them, are just attractive.
This topic was renewed between me and [info]fabricalchemist  as I was watching Iron Man last night. Because this is an...interest...we share.

Grimy is good, but even clean is okay in some cases...

There tend to be certain features a writer is drawn to, that they use in describing characters a lot. Voices tend to be focal when I describe people, when I set up how a scene is. Because that's something I pay a lot of attention to in real life.
I get less chances to describe hands, because while voices are part of every line of dialogue, sometimes hand action isn't necessary. But I notice them. And I could sure tell you about how any given character's hands look...

A few more from my search if you like: (I've titled them with elements...)

Take one as a prompt, or something, if you write.
I think I may start my own collection of hands, starting at work if the jewelers are amenable...

I love hands. Hands are beautiful, I always look at them, admire them. There are so many ways for them to be attractive and interesting. And you're right, hands that show the work that they do are a really cool thing to look at.

I noticed that the hands I picked out share some of the traits I especially like...the square knuckles and less tapered shape. Just can't help it.

I wanted to find some girl-at-work hands, to not be so obviously fetishist but then I had too many things to post, and the third link out is the only one that's female.

Another time, maybe.

I love boy hands. Maybe I should grow up since I'm 29 - I love man hands. I mean, I like all hands, but you know. Man hands are especially good.

Exactly. ^_^

The more square with years the better, for me, but I like all kinds, though not all hands.

Just the phrase "the work of hands" has a mystic resonance for me. (I know, that sounds rather sappy.) But it's true. I feel peaceful watching people do handiwork. Note "watching" because except for cooking I'm not much of a hand at any kind of craft or manual trade.

So you need to make some close up pics of your hands spinning and dying (or whatever that yarn magic is).

No, I think it is mystic, the act of creation. I think it's a shame that we don't honor work of this kind more--and I think we see the consequences in our lack of value for food, craftsmanship, and the people who do the hard work of building.

I have a few pictures, despite the technical difficulties of photographing myself at work ^_^, but they aren't quite this excellent. Maybe when I get some of the jewelers here I'll post that, too...
