The Obsessive Book Lover's Month of Books Meme

Day 1

Tell us about the first three things you come up with when asked the painful “What's your favorite book?” question.

(Obsessive Book Lover Friendly Version to teach your friends: “What book are you enchanted with recently?”)



Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Pride and Prejudice. Why? Because everyone knows [of] those books. Any decent reader will have opinions on at least one to launch a conversation, and a [excuse my bad language] non-reader will be able to relate by telling you about someone they know who reads one of those things.

It also makes my overarching interests clear. I like classical literature (some of it) and kids books, and I'm a geek. Usually the fact that I like to write will have come up already, and people will tell me about how their child/nephew/baby brother's best friend writes fantasy. Or goes to conventions. Or would love to read my books sometime.


Not to say I don't ask the stupid "What books do you like to read?" version of this question myself, but basically only if it's come up, and only if the conversation is treading water.
