I really need to have a different tag for Alan Birch. But I don't. Sorry,  Alan...   {fictional character, in case you wondered}

Good News of the Week:

I got my second rejection, for a different story, that encouraged me to keep submitting to the publication!
*squee! squee at 5-past-waking-up, people!*
I had a feeling my mail would have something good in it. Granted, I think that way more than it's true...

Peeve of the Day:       (okay, actually, this is something to diffuse the tension of all the peeves I shouldn't mention online)

I just realized I have the warm fuzzies for the word "pearl", of all things. ?0_0?
I have a long-term hatred of the word "caress", though.
Somehow this seems odd.

Progress of the Era:

I commenced The Return of Mr. Birch today. It is to be the last (as far as I can see) of The Conspiracy of Cons, a direct sequel to Charade*whathaveyou. I didn't think I'd want to go right into this next book, but I do.
So I am.
There's Mr. Birch in it.
Whom I have a crush on, I admit, though it's lame to crush on your own characters, but my crushes tend to not be highly rational things.
That's all.

DANGIT (also I would like to be back on an English keyboard kthxbai).

Oh, the Mushy Parts that don't fit with the audience. *sighs* You're saying your problem is that posting these bits undoes the integrity of the self-containedness because it is no longer self-contained?

if it makes you feel better, I always planned on saving all the mushy scraps that didn't fit, and posting them as fanfiction later on, and then seeing what kind of reviews I got. :-b

Yah.

(I understand your agony somewhat--I spent a few weeks in Panama, and punctuation on the Spanish keyboard was a form of nightmare, since the labelling was incomplete and GAH. *feelin ur pain*)

So, basically, I think a story should be whole unto itself, and if something belongs to a story, then it should be in it--even if it's kisses in an MG. Therefore, if the bit doesn't belong in the main text, it should not exist at all.
Unless it is its own short story, which these fragments would not be. (But which I have created some of for a different series.)

Also, what's in my head now is lame, and if I do write it, it needs to be with the impetus of the story's whole to guide it's shape into something actually readable. That's the problem with all those high-drama or deep-passion bits that float into your head. Usually, they're *not that good*.

PS "Pearl" isn't hard to say if you have the right accent. ^_^ *is not from around here*

so what happens when you write a scene and then later realize it shouldn't exist?

and...yes, that is generally true. Hence why all of my Mary Sues live in my head. *pets them in their shiny castle*

PS how are you saying it, then?

Uh, I say it with ease? I'm from Boston. My relatives make weirder vowel sounds just for the sake of pastiche all the time. ^_^

I don't think there is a particular *way* I'm saying it, just my tongue is limber in that direction--as well as NOT in others.

I don't know much about scenes that shouldn't exist, except that if I have to cut something out of a story, I save it anyhow.
